To spread the Gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth is our mission
To see the reactivation, reform and renewal of the true New Testament Church
To see miracles and the manifestation of the Glory of God from the streets to the Cathedral, the school to the prison, the home to the hospital…Proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom
To see the mission of Jesus Christ fulfilled on earth as it is in Heaven
To enable Christ followers to “Be” the Church instead of “having" or “using" the Church
To empower and equip Spirit filled believers to discover and celebrate the heritage we have as the sons and daughters of God
A 21st century expression of a 1st century experience.
A few weeks ago, as Stephanie and I were trying to define who we really are, she just came out with "being a 21st Century Expression of a 1st Century Experience." I loved it! Is it even possible? Some say No....some say the miracles and actions of the Believers of the book of Acts ceased with the death of John. Others believe the miracles of scripture were only allegories and not to be taken literally.
I love what Erwin McManus wrote:"Two thousand years ago God started a revolt against the religion He started. So don't ever put it past God to cause a groundswell movement against churches and Christian institutions that bear His name. If He was willing to turn Judaism upside down, don't think for a moment our institutions are safe from a divine revolt. I am convinced that even now there are multitude of followers of Jesus Christ who are sick and tired of the church playing games and playing down the call of God. My travels only confirm that the murmurings of revolution are everywhere. I am convinced that there is an uprising in the works and that no one less than God is behind it."
I say YES!
I believe it is possible to use the Book of Acts as a template of how to believe, practice and live true Christianity...to develop a true Jesus-Culture.
Although many have referred to the militant terms of revolution, we must remember that the original definition of the term does not include debate or revolt. It simply means to make a full circle back to an original orbit. To make a full revolution is to rotate back in a complete cycle, to return back to an origin. This revolution of Apostolic Reformation is simply a return back to the original order of things. We are returning to miracles in the streets, home fellowships, and the operation and administration of the Gifts of the Spirit in our ordinary, daily lives away from religion and restraint.
This explains the enormous unrest among Spirit-filled believers. An awakening is crossing all denominational barriers. It is a hunger for the Holy. It is a quickened sense of the aroma of fresh bread from Heaven. There is a stirring in our spirits, more than we have ever dared to believe or imagine! The first reformation was over the Creeds of the Church. The second reformation will be over the behavior of the church. It is a fresh release of the Work of the Holy Spirit.
This prophetic awakening goes far beyond the trite, trivial pursuits of religious expression and petty politics. It is a “dunamis” explosion of power as on the Day of Pentecost! This is the season where God is restoring the Church back to its original influence. Those who sense God in this second reformation understand that we are no longer afforded the time to simply have church, we must immediately renew our consecration of being the True Ecclesia of Jesus Christ!
"Perhaps a revolution is under way, a revolution of the Spirit that is about to shift our core energies away from arranging life to make it as satisfying as possible to drawing near to God. Jesus seekers across the world are being prepared to abandon the old way of the written code for the new way of the Spirit!" - Larry Crabb
So, welcome to our experiment as we as a family are endeavoring to detox from the cultural Christianity that has locked many of us into trite rituals and the barrenness of busyness without true fruit being developed through the Holy Spirit.
We are endeavoring to go back to the future, so to speak. To rediscover the true New Testament Church in its innocence, power and purity.
I honestly don't know where this journey is going to take us, but I do know that I see the lights in the shadows of thousands of other fellow travelers that are on the same journey!
Our paths are merging and the Holy Spirit is leading us all to new paths not yet discovered.
There are so many who feel they are on this journey of discovery alone although I don't believe that is necessary, or even Biblical. The first lesson God taught to humanity is that it was not meant for man to be alone. I sincerely believe we can unite with the passion to see the rising of a new Kingdom Culture.
Soren Kierkegaard once said: "Act once in such a manner that your action expresses that you fear God alone and man not at all---you will immediately in some measure cause a scandal!”
From the time Stephanie and I were dating and visioneering about our future, we dreamed of doing something that would be different from what we had been exposed to all of our lives. That we would surrender our lives to a cause much bigger than us and together we laid down our dreams and ambitions for kingdom purpose. We dreamed of feeding the hungry, loving the unloveable and encouraging the hopeless that have been wounded or disappointed by religion or rejected from society.
So whether it's traveling the nations teaching and preaching the gospel of the Kingdom or ministering to the homeless under the I-35 overpass here in Austin we're longing to be a 21st Century expression of Jesus Christ.
Our vision is to continue to partner with existing ministries that are warring against human trafficking, digging wells in Africa and india and partnering with orphanages overseas. We are also dreaming for the development of a hope and healing center for soaking, sharing and serving in the metro Austin area.
We welcome you to join us as a friend, believe with us as a partner, and dream with us as family...together we can change the world!
